After watching Doug’s 968 CS review, and reading about K-Roll’s 924 Turbo adventures, I browsed autotrader to see what is available for my FR Porsche coupe of choice - the 944 Turbo and S2.
Out of the search results I found, this one would be my pick:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I love Porsches in rare colors. It also looks like it’s in great condition inside and out. On top of that, it has had top dollar spent on maintenance, the price is reasonable, AND the miles are low.
I’m not really in a position to go buying more cars just yet, so I hope this beauty goes to a good home, maybe even someone on Oppo.
This one is a close second - a little more money for a Turbo S.

Nice, but that blackout tint ruins it for me. Chicago must get more sun than I remember.

Tint is easy to remove.

I like bright colors but not
that shade of yellow. It looks like it’s been
washed on the hot cycle
with bleach
and
left out in the sun too long
.

Fun fact: all 1989 944 turbos are turbo S spec, just not badged as such.
Earlier ones you should always check the build sticker under the hatch carpeting for the all-important LSD which is option code 220.

I had an 83 944. It was kinda boring, the chassis doesn’t feel as fast to respond as a sports car should. They’re cool cars, but the driving experience is typically reflective of how much they go for (4k-8k). Boxster S or Cayman is a far better experience .

When I buy my Cayman S, it will also be in a color.
But not that color.
There are very few yellows that I like, and the only ones I do have to be on their way to orange (like Signal Yellow).

There are 1990-1991 944 Turbos at there too. The rarest of 944's. Only 100 of the 1990 model are in the U.S. it seems.

I would take any yellow. Preferably Speed Yellow or Racing Yellow.
I’d love to have a Cayman, though it wouldn’t be driven very often (which is why I sold the 997).. Though If I had been able to change jobs before the pandemic I may have taken advantage of the current auto market climate. Also, it would be a base 718. With PDK and an APR tune.

Yeah, those are pretty good. A healthy dose of black details &
decals makes ‘em better.

Oh, and my 718 would be Lava Orange or Miami Blue.

Make mine Gentian Blue (you’ve already had your blue Porsche).
I actually prefer Sapphire from the earlier gen.
![]() 06/02/2020 at 16:11 |

Oh yeah, Gentian is a great color.
I’d veer away from Miami because my 997 was Cobalt Blue, but...have you SEEN Miami Blue?!

Another color that goes great with black details & decals.
